Have you ever asked yourself the question:
Who Am I?
If you have, I am sure that some of the answers you would’ve come up with are in this list:
Daughter, son, father, mother, sister, brother, wife, husband, business woman/man, executive, homemaker, student, entrepreneur, etc.
The list is endless.
Think for a moment about all of the time and effort that you have put into acquiring those labels. You have spent an entire lifetime becoming who you are, or who you thought you were.
Now I want you to ask yourself are any of these labels who I really am?
Is that really Who I am?
Have you ever thought of what it would be like not to have any of those labels attached to you?
Is it even possible for you to strip away all of the identities that you have donned to create YOU: job title, professional title, degrees, business owner, member of an association or organization, charity work, titles in general: parent, mother, father, daughter, son, spouse, husband, wife, etc., ethnicity, gender, etc. Anything that you have identified with. Anything that you have used to differentiate yourself. Any label that you have used to describe yourself.
I want you to make a list of all of the ways you identify yourself, anything that you can think of that differentiates you, that separates you, that makes you special in some way.
Next I want you to read that list out loud. Read it slowly and deliberately. After each one I want you to stop and ask yourself:
Is that the truth of Who I am?
I want you to really consider what you are asking yourself. Take a few moments after you ask yourself each question to let it settle in.
Am I a mother?
Pause.
Am I a wife?
Pause.
Am I a …?
Pause.
Do any of those things represent the truth of who you are?
Guess what? You are not any of those things. Yes, you read that correctly.
IN TRUTH, YOU ARE NOT ANY OF THOSE THINGS.
You are also not the house that you reside in; you are not the car you drive; you are not the clothing you wear; you are not the amount of money you have in the bank; you are not the things you own!
So who are you without all of those identities?
Who is the real you?
Right now, right this very second I want you to get comfortable. Relax your mind. Slow down your breath. Pay attention to each breath. Do this until you have created space in your mind, approximately one minute. This will be different for every person. With practice you will be able to reach that state more quickly. For now, be satisfied with however long it takes.
Once you have achieved a relaxed state, I would like you to systematically rid yourself of every label you have every donned. Free yourself from the burden of identification with anything or anyone.
Go back to the time before you were identified as anything.
Try and access your early childhood when you had no labels, no identities and no filters, when you were completely free, innocent and naive. When you didn’t comprehend any ideas of separation. Recall a picture of yourself when you were between the ages of three and six. Transport yourself back to that time. Become as a little child.
Access the time before you were told you were able to do this and not able to do that, that you were good at this but sucked at that.
Bask in that freedom. Soak up the innocence. Revel in the boundless joy. Experience what it means to be truly happy. Feel what it is like to fly like a bird.
Stay in this space that you have created for at least five minutes.
Now I want you to ask yourself the question:
But before you do I want you to put your hand on your heart. You have to make sure that you have dropped from your mind into your heart. Your heart is where all of the true answers reside to any question you want to ask. Remember this and it will serve you well on the journey.
Who am I?
The answer should easily come to you now. It is so simple.
You are one with everything. You are not separate. You are an essence of your Creator. You are an extension of Source. You are pure, unadulterated love! You are a wave in the ocean of love!
YOU ARE LOVE!
Keep telling yourself that I AM LOVE! Don’t ever stop! Don’t let anyone tell you differently! We are ALL LOVE!
WHO AM I?
I AM LOVE! AND SO ARE YOU!
